Qualified green-industry professionals are often asked to determine a monetary value for landscape trees, whether because of intentional or unintentional damage, an insurance claim, or condemnation of a property under eminent domain. The valuation considers four factors:
- Species
- Size, measured as trunk diameter 4.5 feet above the ground
- Condition: vigor, vitality, habit and so on
- Aesthetic and environmental contribution to the landscape
